The money line last night was pretty steady at 114.35. My lineup with Sale and the Angels stack made it in easily. The one with the Nationals stack and Jerad Eickhoff was nowhere close.
The winning lineup was up 0.2 points to 223.65. He gambled and won on Jose Berrios. Then he used the extra money to stack the Bears/Cowboys game (White Sox/Rangers).
These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Madison Bumgarner ($12,400): The Phillies haven’t been terrible against MadBum in his career, and honestly, Bumgarner’s last start scared me a little. However, this is a very short slate, and I don’t trust Gio with all the right handed power in San Diego. Besides, the current Padres are 5-13 lifetime against Gonzalez. I will take my chances with MadBum.
P: Dinelson Lamet ($8,200): Lamet has been the best starter for the Padres this year. Unless you consider Chacin at home. At any rate, Lamet has has success all over lately. He has only allowed eight runs in his last five starts. One of those games was in Cincinnati! We saw Travis Wood dominate the Harper-less Nats last night. Lamet looks like a lock for another quality start.
C: Jorge Alfaro ($2,200): It’s fourth down at catcher. I don’t have the money for Posey or Molina, and hey, Alfaro is batting fifth! There are worse punt plays than this. If I want to stack Pirates, I have to save some cash somewhere.
1B: Matt Carpenter ($4,400): Carpenter isn’t what I would really call rolling right now, but Ivan Nova isn’t really what I would call a great pitcher either. Josh Bell is overpriced based on the matchup. Just because they are playing in Williamsport doesn’t mean that it is a little league field. That park is nearly as large as PNC is, so don’t expect an offensive explosion. Unless you don’t trust Mike Leake.
2B: Yangervis Solarte ($3,000): Remember that right handed San Diego power? Solarte is batting cleanup once again, and he hit one out off of Stephen Strasburg last night.
3B: David Freese ($3,900): Welcome to the Pirates stack! The last five names on this list are facing Mike Leake, who has allowed five homers and 38 runs in 273 at bats with a .297 average. Freese has done a lot of that damage. He is 16-36(.444) with two walks, four doubles, a homer, nine runs scored, and six RBI against Leake. They better look out sliding down that hill.
SS: Jordy Mercer ($3,400): Mercer is 12-33(.364) with four walks, two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI. Mercer and company will put on quite a show for the small crowd in attendance here!
OF: Andrew McCutchen ($4,600): McCutchen is “only” 23-85(.271) against Leake with 19 strikeouts. Now the good part: he has six walks, two doubles, two homers, 11 runs scored, and six RBI. There are going to be plenty of Pirates on base tonight, so his RBI potential is very high.
OF: Starling Marte ($4,300): Marte is finally heating up, batting .350 over the last ten games. He homered and stole two bags last night, so it’s safe to say that the slump is over.
OF: Adam Frazier ($3,600): Frazier has driven in eight runs in the last ten games with a .286 average to go with it. Any Pirate is in play, but I especially like the lefties. Frazier is one of the few of those hanging around in Pittsburgh these days.
