Streaming pitchers takes a lot of patience and timing. You need to pick up the right pitcher with the right matchup. This week, that’s Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin.

The Arizona Diamondbacks may not win the National League West but they are still competing for a Wild Card spot. Hopefully, you’re still competing for a playoff spot in your fantasy league. If you need help with some pitching, I would look at Patrick Corbin as a streaming option for Tuesday.

Corbin has had three straight quality starts and two straight shutouts. With his next start coming on the road against the New York Mets, I think he’s a safe bet to continue both streaks.

Corbin reached the minimum for a quality start against the San Francisco Giants on August 6, reaching six innings and three runs allowed with 10 strikeouts. His next two outings were even better.

More from Fantasy Baseball

He pitched 6.2 shutout innings against the Chicago Cubs. He struck out eight batters while allowing five hits and one walk. Corbin then pitched eight shutout innings against the Houston Astros. He went eight innings with seven strikeouts, four hits and one walk.

Corbin was able to shut down to power offenses back to back. As a result, he’s been added in 16.3 percent of ESPN leagues over the last week. He did give up seven runs in three innings to the Cubs on August 1 but he bounced back.

His numbers for the season aren’t the best, 4.25 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 10-11 record. However, he has 140 strikeouts and 41 walks in 144.0 innings. Corbin has given up a few long balls this season, 1.4 HR/9 but lucky for him, that shouldn’t be a factor in his next start.

Citi Field ranks 27th in home runs, last in hits and 26th in runs scored. Along with the size of the park, the lack of offense from the Mets is a big contributing factor. Over the last month, the Mets traded Lucas Duda, Jay Bruce and Curtis Granderson, three of their top hitters.

Corbin does have a 5.89 ERA and 1.569 WHIP in 12 starts away from Chase Field. Though, his most recent road starts show that he may be improving in that aspect. I would take the matchup over the numbers, especially against the Mets.

Next: Kevin Kiermaier is a must add

Corbin is still available in 58 percent of leagues. I like him a lot as a streaming option for his next start. He’s not a bad addition for the rest of the season either, but you may want to pick and choose the matchups you start him in.
