LeBron James Jr. showcases skills in highlight reel
It’s got to be hard to grow up in the shadow of your father. It’s got to be even harder when that father is LeBron James.
LeBron James Jr. apparently isn’t fazed by the expectations laid on him by being the son of one the NBA’s greatest.
The hype surrounding James’s progeny has existed since videos first surfaced of junior running the fast break and finding open teammates in as early as 2014 (when LeBron Jr. was a plucky 9-year- old).
Now it seems LeBron Jr. might actually be making good on the promise forced onto him by basketball junkies and college recruiters.
In a new highlight video posted by Ball is Life, the 12-year-old shows off the physical skills and basketball IQ that surely has college coaches watching.
Paired up with seventh-grader Elijah Fisher — who has his own expectations and online following — the two ball out on a number of youngsters who look utterly over-matched at the D-Rich TV Camp.
James Jr. shows off his nimble body control while finishing at the rim and his father’s innate ability to find the open man and hit them in stride for the easy bucket. Fisher looked like a man among boys, overpowering younger players down low and powering up for each finish (even showcasing his dunking ability).
It was a 1-2 punch you seldom see at an adolescent level, but a performance that scouts will say they could see coming.

It’s unlikely LeBron James Jr. will ever be as good as his old man — honestly, who is? But it is nice to see the kid live up to some of the unreasonable expectations placed atop his shoulders because of his surname.
If the younger LeBron is blessed with half his father’s athleticism and desire to win, he might just be a pretty good ball player in his own right.
And with dad imparting some of his wealth of knowledge, the kid has a chance.
