Thon Maker is coming for Giannis’ ‘Nicest person in Milwaukee’ spot
Milwaukee already has one super-mega nice guy in Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, it looks like Thon Maker might be coming for his No.1 spot.
Please consult the above picture to appreciate just how tall Thon Maker is compared to most people. Basketball-Reference lists him as 7-foot-1, but I’d be shocked if he wasn’t at least 7-foot-1.125. He is tall.
Tall people get to do a lot of cool things. They get to play in the NBA. They get to go on roller coasters before other kids get to. Sometimes, they hang stars on the more impossibly large Christmas trees. People look at tall people and think “wow, that person is tall,” and they probably mean that as a compliment.
But what often goes underappreciated is that other people are short. Are you taller than 7-foot? If not, that makes you short. You’re a very tiny person.
Don’t fret, sport. The rest of the world is much like you. Things are built around average, and on average the world shares your pathetic, diminutive frame. Fun size candy bars can still be fun. You often don’t crush small birds in your hands. Your experience in an economy seat of a flight can be considered slightly less than disastrously uncomfortable.
This is where Thon Maker comes in, ducking and shifting his way down the aisle to the last row. You think it’s annoying having his large swinging hands smack you in the face? Imagine having those hands and the arms to which they’re attached.
If you’re like me, it’s hard to put the picture in your head without some words to help You can have some words like that here. Thon Maker was given a first class seat on a rebooked flight, the person whose seat he was given eventually showed up like a jerk, and the flight would be delayed if one person in the first class area didn’t voluntarily go away.

Thon did that. Again, he is tall. This was an unnecessary act of kindness for the benefit of pretty much everyone but himself. That doesn’t even mention having to repeatedly stand up for people going to the restroom and snack cart lane clearing.
Sure, Giannis is nice and all for some reasons I can’t really remember any more, but short of Giannis donating a kidney, Thon Maker is now the nicest person person in Milwaukee. It’s not particularly close.
