Jacksonville is the fourth team in the past few months to be interested in signing Colin Kaepernick, will they pull the trigger?

Fourth times the charm right? While there have been no official talks between the two, Colin Kaepernick’s name was brought up in a Jacksonville radio interview with owner Shahid Khad. The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly the fourth team to be interested in signing the free agent quarterback. Khad told Mike Dempsey of WJXL radio in Jacksonville that he would “absolutely” be okay with the team signing Kaepernick.

Khad told Dempsey that he wouldn’t have done what Kaepernick did, though he respected his rights as an American to express himself. Khad said he would also be open to anything his football people suggest to make the team better.

Kaepernick has had some talks and other teams have been interested in signing him this offseason. First, Seattle was the first team to talk to Colin and it seemed like it was possible that the team would sign him, but they would end up passing on Kaepernick.

Next up was Baltimore. Ryan Mallett was seen struggling in practice, and Joe Flacco is out with an injured back, Kaepernick’s name was brought up. Baltimore, like Seattle, wound up passing on him.

Then there was Miami, with Ryan Tannehill going down for the season, Miami needed a starting quarterback with experience. Miami was considering Kaepernick, Tebow, and retired quarterback Kyle Orton for the job, before ending up getting retired quarterback Jay Cutler out of retirement and signing him to a one-year deal.

Jacksonville could use the help as former first round pick Blake Bortles has been struggling as of late, even being moved to the backup position as Chad Henne started for the Jaguars on Thursday night.

It is unlikely that with only one preseason game left on their schedule, and the NFL starting in two weeks that the team would sign Kaepernick. The team does need an answer at the quarterback position, so while it is unlikely at this time, never say never.
