Reuben Foster carted off with right leg injury, ruled questionable to return (video)
Reuben Foster’s season might be in jeopardy after he was carted off with a right leg injury in his first career start.
The San Francisco 49ers are no strangers to injuries to their linebackers. Not even one full quarter into the 2017 season and the injury bug has struck again. This time, instead of Patrick Willis or Navorro Bowman, it was promising rookie Reuben Foster.
After having a very good preseason, expectations were high for the young linebacker out of Alabama. There were questions about his shoulder, but he came into today with a clean bill of health. Now there are questions about his right leg which he injured attempting to tackle Christian McCaffrey.
As he is being pushed to the ground, his right leg gets stuck underneath him and bends in an awkward fashion. At first it looks like his knee, but really could be any part of the lower leg with that type of torque. Very likely to be his ankle as well. He tweaked his left ankle in camp, but this involves his right ankle. A very tough break for a defense, and player, that looked solid in the opening quarter.
Reports are as well that he is questionable to return to the game. Foster had three tackles in the first quarter alone, proving he can be a special player. There is absolutely no reason for the Niners to rush him back into this game.

Foster is the future of the Niners defense that also has Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner. The Niners, and many others, are very high on him, and hopefully this injury isn’t too serious. They will need him if they want to compete this season, more updates are sure to follow in the coming hours.
