The Michigan Wolverines have lost freshman Donovan Jeter for the 2017 season.
While the Michigan Wolverines have seemed to have been doing well avoiding the injury bug in 2017, but it just caught one of its players for the entire season. Jim Harbaugh told the media on Monday that freshman defensive lineman Donovan Jeter has had surgery for an unspecified injury and is out for the season.
While it is never good to see a player get knocked out for the season, the Michigan Wolverines defense should be able to handle themselves without Jeter.
So far this season, Michigan’s defense has been good at stopping the run, only allowing 79 rushing yards in their first two games. They also have 10 sacks, so while missing Jeter will sting, it won’t be a huge blow as he likely would have either been redshirted or sat the bench this season.
Donovan Jeter was a four-star defensive end out of Beaver Falls, PA and had a heck of a career in high school. From his sophomore to senior year in high school, Jeter had 230 tackles, 30 sacks and 15 tackles for loss.
When asked about injuries and updates on other players, Land of 10 reports Harbaugh had this to say:
"I’m not going to address you and binoculars, seeing who’s dressed and trying see who’s not. Guys will be working through things. It’s just not fair or right. When you’re talking about college players and what they have physically wrong or what injury they have. That’s not your business or anybody else’s. There’s no injury report. There’s no dress list. That’s the explanation. It’s not fair to those guys, to broadcast what ailment they have or what injury they have. Is that fair?”"
