Ahead of their epic clash set to take place on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin stepped on the scales for the official weigh-in.

We as boxing fans have waited a very long time to see the bout we believe could be one of the best of this generation, and finally, that wait is over. On Saturday night from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will step into the ring with one another to settle once and for all who really is the king of the middleweight division.

Golovkin comes into this one with an unblemished professional record of 37-0 with 33 of those wins coming by way of knockout. At 35 years of age, Golovkin has himself waited quite a while to get a crack at the man some believe is the best the division has to offer. Now, his time has come, as he looks to become the undisputed king of the 160-pound fighters.

However, for Golovkin to stake his claim to being the best, he’ll have to take down the toughest challenge of his career in Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez enters this mega-fight with a career record of 49-1-1 with 24 knockouts, and that one loss is nothing to be embarrassed about at all, as it was to the undefeated Floyd Mayweather a few years ago. Otherwise, the Mexican sensation has proven himself to be one of the most dominant fighters of this generation.

Now the main detour in regards to this fight actually happening for the past few years has been a decision on weight. Canelo generally likes to compete at a catchweight of 154 pounds, while GGG prefers to fight at the pure middleweight limit of 160 pounds. They did eventually agree to fight at 160, giving fight fans the battle they’ve been longing to see.
