Is Canelo vs. GGG on Showtime?
The boxing world is ready to be treated to Canelo vs. GGG on Saturday, Sept. 16 from Las Vegas, NV, but is the fight airing on Showtime?
There’s no question that Las Vegas, NV is the megafight capital of the world. It seems as if every big boxing matchup takes place there, most recently with the
fight
spectacle of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor duking it out. But on Saturday, Sept. 16, T-Mobile Arena in Vegas will host an even bigger match as Canelo vs. GGG is an epic middleweight clash.
Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are two of the very best in the sport today, and perhaps of all time. The latter is one of the greatest knockout artists that boxing has ever seen. He has an unblemished 37-0-0 record coming into this fight, with 33 coming by way of KO. But he’s also the elder statesman in this bout (35).
On the other hand, the 27-year old Alvarez is the younger of the two fighters, though he still has an impressive record to this point. He’s 49-1-1 to this point, with his one loss coming to the aforementioned Mayweather. Now he’s looking to take his star to the next level by being the first to topple GGG, who’s never even been knocked down.
Speaking again of Mayweather-McGregor, that Vegas fight was a product of Showtime, who hosted the pay-per-view. As such, fans may be wondering if Canelo vs. GGG is on Showtime on Saturday night.
Unfortunately, the fight between Alvarez and Golovkin is a product of HBO PPV. As such, Showtime will have no part in the fight. If you want to watch, you’ll have to work with HBO Boxing to make that happen.
