Canelo vs. GGG is a once-in-a-lifetime boxing match and has been from rumors of it happening, but what is the full fight purse for being in the bout?

The boxing world has been anxiously anticipating Canelo vs. GGG for well over a year. Yes, the fight wasn’t announced officially then, but there have been rumblings about it being in the works for that long. And on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Las Vegas, NV, it was finally set to go down. No matter who won, it was going to be a historic fight.

Put simply, the middleweight bout pitted two of the very best in the world against one another. Canelo Alvarez has been a professional since he was just 15 years old, notching 51 fights since then before Saturday night. And with his only loss coming to Floyd Mayweather in his career, a win over GGG would’ve put him in the category of being one of the best ever already.

Meanwhile, Gennady Golovkin (GGG) might already be in that conversation. The 35-year old from Kazakhstan entered the fight against Alvarez with an untarnished 37-0-0 record. What’s more, he’d already cemented himself as one of the greatest knockout connoisseurs in the history of the sport, having knocked out 33 of the 37 guys he faced. However, knocking out or beating Canelo would’ve been arguably his greatest feat yet.

In the end, madness ensued as the fight concluded in a draw.

Regardless of what happened, though, both men were set to make a nice chunk of change from the fight. Between their guaranteed purse and the popularity for pay-per-view buys, this was always going to be a massive payday for both. But what was the full fight purse for Canelo vs. GGG?

Per Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports on Twitter, Alvarez would get $5 million for just showing up. Meanwhile, Golovkin showing up netted him $3 million.
