The Los Angeles Lakers signed center Andrew Bogut Monday to a one-year deal.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Andrew Bogut’s next stop will be in Los Angeles as he signed with the Lakers for one season. Bogut’s agent David Bauman, who is a member of the Independent Sports & Entertainment Agency was the source of this news.

This news comes just a few days after Bogut was cleared by doctors to return to the NBA.

Bogut has been plagued for injuries for much of his career since entering the NBA in 2005. In only three seasons, has he played more than 70 games.

The Australian center was a member of three different organizations during the 2016-17 season. He began the year with the Raptors before being traded to the Mavericks. He finished the season with Cleveland, where he played in just one game for one minute.

Over the course of his career, Bogut has proven himself to be a great rebounding presence. He’s averaged 10 points and 8.9 rebounds since being drafted

This pick-up makes a lot of sense for the Lakers. They definitely need to bolster their rotation at the center position. At the moment, their starting center going into next season is Brook Lopez, but after him there isn’t much talent. Ivica Zubac has played just one season in the NBA and Thomas Bryant has yet to play a minute in the NBA.

Bogut will not only give Lopez time to rest, he can also take these youngsters under his wing and show them the ropes.

A few teams were reportedly interested in the former first overall pick It didn’t take much time for Bogut to make a decision and sign with the Lakers.

It will be interesting to see if Bogut will be able to stay healthy. If he falls to another injury, his career would come into question.
