President Donald Trump withdrew Stephen Curry’s White House invitation via Twitter.

President Donald Trump withdrew Stephen Curry’s White House invitation, but only after Curry told reporters he didn’t want to go.

The Warriors star told reporters on Friday he would vote no when the team sit down to decide whether or not to accept their White House invitation. Curry explained his decision making as follows, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

"“That we don’t stand for basically what our president has — the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said at the right times — that we won’t stand for it. By acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country, what is accepted and what we turn a blind eye toward. It’s not just the act of not going, there are things you have to do in the back end that you have to push that message into motion.”"

Trump responded swiftly via Twitter on Saturday morning, telling Curry his invitation had been withdrawn.

The dis-invitation will surely do little to change Curry’s thoughts on the President, and is likely to strengthen his determination not to dignify Trump’s White House with a visit.

Whether the rest of the team is still welcome at the White House remains to be seen, though it’s hard to imagine many of them will want to visit, especially after this latest episode.

The question of whether Golden State would visit the President has remained unanswered since they clinched the NBA Championship back in June.

Steve Kerr has been one of the most outspoken coaches in the NBA when it comes to criticizing Trump, but has avoided saying definitively whether his team would make the White House visit that has become customary for NBA champions.
