Kyrie Irving admits to trolling about ‘flat earth’
After telling the world (no pun intended) his opinion on the earth’s shape, Kyrie Irving is retracting his statements.
Kyrie Irving’s name is in the headlines once again. For once, it isn’t about LeBron James or the Cleveland Cavaliers. The newest member of the Boston Celtics told Rich Shertenlieb during Monday’s media day that his thoughts on the earth being flat were just to poke fun.

Earlier this year on his former teammate Richard Jefferson’s “Road Trippin'” podcast, Irving shared that he believed the world is flat.
"via Mass Live“There is no concrete information except for the information that they’re giving us,” Irving said. “They’re particularly putting you in the direction of what to believe and what not to believe. The truth is right there, you just got to go searching for it.”"
Just last week, his new teammate Jaylen Brown admitted to being interested in having a conversation with him about his “flat earth” beliefs. Brown may have to put that on hold for a while.

Traditionally, Irving has always walked to the beat of his own drum. He was clearly the best player in college basketball even though he played only 11 games at Duke. He was the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Irving signed a five-year $90 million contract extension with the Cavaliers in 2014 because he was slated to become the future of the franchise, unaware that James was going to return that same year. He had to sacrifice the way he wanted to play in order for the team to succeed.
According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, Irving’s made it clear from the beginning that he thinks differently, and he approaches things differently from the average person.
On ESPN’s First Take, when asked if he should’ve consulted James before requesting a trade, Irving simply said, “No.”

The way Irving conducts himself with the media these days is like watching Kobe Bryant in his early years. There is no emotion. He gives a stale face, especially when speaking about something he doesn’t really care to talk about. He leaves little to work with when trying to decipher what he’s thinking.
Although his cryptic demeanor is odd, this is just the beginning for the world (pun intended) getting to know who Irving is.
