With less than a week left to the baseball season, it’s crunch time on the waiver wire. One streaming option with a good matchup is Phillies Nick Pivetta.

The 2017 baseball season is just days away from being over. If you are still competing for a championship, all of your focus needs to be on this final week. With limited options to improve your pitching staff, finding the right streaming option is key. Phillies Nick Pivetta has the best matchup possible.

Pivetta hasn’t had the best season, 6.26 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. But those stats are in the past. It’s about the present and what he can do for you in the final week.

Over his last two starts, Pivetta has posted two quality outings, allowing two combined runs over 12 innings. He also had a 12:3 K:BB ratio in those outings. While he hasn’t pitched more than six innings in his last 14 starts, that’s all you need to qualify for a win and quality start.

More from Fantasy Baseball

Pivetta will make his next and final start of the season at home against the New York Mets. While the Mets are fifth in batting average this month (.271), they are 16th in runs scored, 15th in home runs and 15th in RBI. Even if they get on base, the odds of them scoring is low.

Looking past the ratio stats, Pivetta has big strikeout potential. Over his last 10 starts, 46.2 innings, he has 50 strikeouts to 18 walks. He has allowed just four walks in his last 22 innings, so Pivetta is getting his control back on track.

The rookie didn’t fair well the last time he faced the Mets, though. Back on Sept. 6, Pivetta gave up six runs on 10 hits (one home runs) and striking out six batters in five innings.

All you are looking for out of Pivetta is a line similar to 6 IP/3 ER/0 BB/8 K. You could throw in a walk or two but I’d welcome that outing with open arms. Other fantasy owners are welcoming Pivetta, too. He’s been added in 5.0 percent of ESPN leagues over the last week. Some already got the stats from his last start while others are preparing for his next one. Jump on the bandwagon.

Since that Sept. 6 game, the Mets have hit .268 with 21 home runs and 79 runs scored in19 games, 4.2 runs per game. Pivetta hasn’t pitched well in his last two games against the Mets. If you believe in that Mets offense, then stay away. However, if you believe in Pivetta’s improvements in the final days of his first MLB stint, then start him.
