The Tennessee Volunteers are struggling mightily against the Georgia Bulldogs, and a few fans in Knoxville aren’t pleased.
It’s been a difficult season to say the least for Butch Jones and the Tennessee Volunteers, who are currently getting crushed by the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs. Predictably, some of that frustration spilled over into the stands at Neyland Stadium during Saturday afternoon’s drubbing.
With Tennessee getting waxed 24-0 near the end of the first half, a few Vols fans in the bleachers came to blows, as seen in the video below.

We’ll never know the magic words that started the brawl, but Tennessee fans have been getting angrier and angrier at each of Jones’ cliche-filled press conferences following woeful on-field performances. Hopefully there won’t be any more brawls before Saturday’s beatdown is over, as most people at Neyland will wish to head home soon enough.
Barring a miracle, Tennessee will fall to 3-2 on the season, and three of its first four games could have gone either way. The Volunteers managed to pull out a victory in the opener against Georgia Tech despite being statistically dominated before losing to Florida on a Hail Mary and barely beating lowly UMass.
The Volunteers posted back-to-back nine-win campaigns, but were expected to fall off somewhat after losing a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Still, Saturday’s performance is exceptionally bad, as Tennessee has surrendered nearly 200 rushing yards and turned the ball over four times through four quarters while even managing to pull off their own version of the Buttfumble.

Jones’ refusal to bench flailing quarterback Quinten Dormady probably isn’t helping to ease the tension. Losing to South Carolina next week might seal Jones’ fate, and a trip to Alabama the following Saturday isn’t really what the Volunteers need right now.
