The Buffalo Bills upset the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon, 23-17. Here are all the highlights, the game recap and the final score.
It was a thrilling one in Atlanta, but the Buffalo Bills were able to knock off the previously unbeaten Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon, 23-17. Buffalo improves to 3-1, while Atlanta falls to 3-1 on the season.
This was a defensive struggle, as this was a far lower scoring than many anticipated. Buffaloās defense looks to be one of the very best in football. While Atlantaās held its own, a few costly turnovers proved to be the deciding factor. Atlanta would turn the ball over on downs deep in Buffalo territory inside of a minute left.
The Falcons had to play without its two best wide receivers, Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu, in the second half. It really limited what Matt Ryan could do in the passing game late, but could have used at least one of them in their failed attempt at staying perfect. Hats off to the Bills defense. The team is playing tremendously well for new head coach Sean McDermott. And we though this team was tanking!
You could just tell from the opening kick that Buffalo played with more swagger than the Falcons. Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor wasnāt perfect, but felt comfortable trying to air it out against the Atlanta secondary all afternoon. His dual-threat ability made for a difficult game plan for Falcons defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel.
Three of Atlantaās four games have come down to the final possession. The Bills have had two of their four goes this way as well. While Atlanta had been lucky against the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions in Weeks 1 and 3, the Bills would get the break in this one. It was an excellent ball game that might feature two of the best teams in the NFL. We know that Atlanta is good, and Buffalo seems to be as well.
