Redskins at Chiefs: Preview, prediction, odds and pick

LANDOVER, MD - SEPTEMBER 24: Quarterback Kirk Cousins
LANDOVER, MD - SEPTEMBER 24: Quarterback Kirk Cousins

The Washington Redskins will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 in an exciting Monday Night Football matchup in primetime.

The first three weeks of the season has been kind to the Kansas City Chiefs, as they are one of only two undefeated teams remaining. Quarterback Alex Smith is showing a side of himself we have never seen, and rookie running back Kareem Hunt is having an Ezekiel Elliott-type first season. In addition, the defense has been shut down this season, which is bad news for whoever is on their schedule.

Expected to finish in the bottom of the NFC East, the Washington Redskins currently are in first place and are fresh off a dominating victory against one of the best teams in the AFC. The Redskins manhandled the Oakland Raiders on Sunday night and should come into this matchup looking to take down another AFC West opponent. The Chiefs are a better team than Oakland, and Washington is also on the road in this one.

On Monday night, these two teams will link up inside Arrowhead Stadium, which is a serious home-field advantage for the Chiefs. Still, the Redskins are not afraid of anybody and their quarterback has the gun-slinger mentality you need in big games. Kirk Cousins is going to get his yards and will look to exploit a Chiefs defense that is lacking their star safety in Eric Berry.

Kansas City can beat you so many ways, and they will find the weakness in the Redskins armor. The emergence of Smith as an actual threat, and not a game-manager, makes this team downright scary this season. Expect a rowdy crowd on Monday night, as they know their team could be in for a special season.

Odds

Line: Kansas City (-7.0)

Over/Under: 49.0

The Chiefs should win this one by a touchdown at least, so betting the current line seems to make sense. Both teams should be able to find the end zone in this one, so it is possible the score goes over 49.0. This line and over/under has changed a bit over the past week or so, so head on over to Sportsbook Review for any changes up until kickoff.

Prediction

Kansas City is just too good this season, and playing them at home is only going to make matters worse. The Redskins have put together some solid wins early on, but the Chiefs are the best team they will have faced through the first quarter of the season. Cousins will make some plays early on, but the Chiefs will buckle down and win this one by two scores.

Final Score: Chiefs 30 Redskins 20
