The Bengals held on in a close win over the Buffalo Bills at home in Week 5. Cincinnati won late, by a score of 20-16, on a defensive stop.

The Bengals and Bills met in Cincinnati for a game with a better finish than most anticipated. What started with an A.J. Green long touchdown became more defensive after the fact.

Cincinnati held on late, despite Andy Dalton tossing two interceptions. Joe Mixon was solid for the Bengals, carrying the ball 15 times for 51 yards, including one touchdown. On the flip side, LeSean McCoy had a fairly quiet day, only gaining 63 yards on 19 carries and Nick O’Leary was the leading pass-catcher for the Bills.

With the win, the Bengals now have a 2-3 record, while the loss drops the Bills to 3-2. Below are some highlights, the three stars of the game and updates on the betting lines, as well as matchups for next week.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Bengals’ WR A.J. Green

A.J. Green always gets left off the conversation when it comes to the best receivers in the NFL. It’s always about Antonio Brown or Odell Beckham Jr., but Green produces with the best of them.

Against the Bills, he caught seven balls for 198 yards, including a touchdown. The first home-run play of the game was a 77-yard touchdown throw from Dalton to Green.

2. Bills defense

The Buffalo Bills, under Sean McDermott, have become a turnover machine and they’re adding to that resume today.

The Bills had three takeaways, including two interceptions on Dalton and a fumble. All the plays are in the highlights above and were fantastic from the Bills defense. It’s a unit that routinely carries Buffalo to wins and they played well enough today.

3. Bengals rookie RB Joe Mixon

15 carries, 51 yards and a touchdown later, rookie Joe Mixon had himself a day. With Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill on the roster, Mixon has worked himself into the No. 1 position in the running backs’ room.

He’s been amazing for the Bengals in his first season and today was another example why.
