On Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the Los Angeles Chargers got their first win of 2017 at the expense of the New York Giants. How did they pull it off?

It took a bit for the winless Los Angeles Chargers and the 0-4 New York Giants to warm up a bit. But when it was all said and done it proved to be a very entertaining tilt between the Bolts and G-Men.

And it proved to be another frustrating outing for Ben McAdoo’s team courtesy of a 27-22 setback.

It was a costly outing for the Giants, as well, as star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. went down late with a leg injury.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Melvin Gordon

It was a big game for the 2016 Pro Bowler. Gordon led the Chargers with 105 yards rushing on 20 carries and also caught a team-high six passes for 58 yards and a pair of scores. All told, he accounted for 163 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in the team’s first win of 2017.

2. Philip Rivers

Yes, the veteran signal-caller did throw another interception and completed less than half (21) of his 44 pass attempts. But he also threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns and the Bolts rallied in the fourth quarter for a 27-22 victory.

3. Melvin Ingram

The one-time first-round pick got paid this offseason and he made the New York Giants pay on Sunday. Ingram totaled six tackles, a pair of sacks, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery in Los Angeles’ five-point triumph.
