Wade Baldwin is looking to move on from his less-than-stellar rookie season. The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to move on from him.

Who could forget Wade Baldwin’s 11-point, 2-assist game against the on Dec. 6? Or who could forget the time he pulled down seven rebounds against the Spurs on April 4? I did. I had to look it up to confirm that these two things happen.

It’s not particularly surprising. In general, rookies aren’t particularly good at NBA basketball. What made Baldwin interesting was that he was particularly bad. The team was 18.4 points better with him sitting versus him on the floor per Basketball-Reference.

He also had the third worst true shooting percentage of anyone in the league who played over 400 minutes. Also he had this shot chart:

Those 2-pointers from the left of the key loved him. Unfortunately, Baldwin did’t love them quite as much. He was more fond of shooting at the rim, where he eighth-worst in the league among players who played over 400 minutes. At least he was better than Cameron Payne.

Being able to finish is a talent one has to develop, and maybe some day he will. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, Baldwin won’t be developing on Memphis from the looks of it. Adrian “I am Adrian Wojnarowski” Wojnarowski reports:

It’s a Woj Bomb that could wipe out at least three ant hills. It’s another feather in the cap of the Grizzlies’ front office except instead of a cap it’s a thick coating of dandruff, and instead of a feather it’s a large, pointy stick.

It’s not been the best summer for Grizzlies fans. Everyone hoping that Wade Baldwin would be at the vanguard for a new Grit And Also Grind era must be devastated. I’m assuming that person exists. If you do, let me know. I want to understand how your mind works.
