The San Antonio Spurs begin their season against the new-look Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 18. Here is how to watch online.

The Spurs won 61 games last season and are once again expected to contend in a loaded Western Conference. San Antonio signed veteran forward Rudy Gay in free agency, to provide scoring off the bench. In 2016-17, LaMarcus Aldridge averaged the lowest amount of points and rebounds per game since his rookie season. However, Aldridge hopes to return to All-Star form after a solid preseason. The Spurs will be without superstar Kawhi Leonard for this game, as he continues rehabbing from a quad injury.

Despite Leonard’s absence, San Antonio will be a great barometer for a revamped Minnesota team. The Timberwolves landed All-Star Jimmy Butler in a blockbuster trade on draft night. Furthermore, they signed veterans Jeff Teague, Jamal Crawford and Taj Gibson to bolster their lineup. Karl-Anthony Towns is perhaps the best player in the league, who didn’t make the All-Star team last season. While Andre Wiggins continues to improve on both ends of the floor.

The Spurs will be without their best player at least for the opener. Shockingly, San Antonio went 7-1 in games without Kawhi Leonard last season. Nonetheless, no one disputes the value of their 26-year-old star forward. Gregg Popovich has enough depth to stand up to a suddenly improved Timberwolves’ roster.

The game will be televised nationally on ESPN. The available live streams will be provided by ESPN and Fubo TV. Fans can listen live on ESPN Radio or with NBA League Pass, NBA Team Pass, or NBA Team Pass Audio. Local broadcasts within the Greater San Antonio and Minneapolis areas will be subject to blackout.
