DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: October 19

Tonight’s DraftKings NBA Main Slate is much smaller than Wednesday night’s with only three games. Even with a shrunken player pool, there’s plenty of value to help afford some big name studs.

Last night, the NBA 500K Four Point Play tournament had a cash line at 277 DraftKings points and the winner took down the top prize with 368.75 DraftKings points. The winning lineup benefited from Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s big night paired with a handful of mid-tier guys who had 40+ performances. It’s good to note that a stars and scrubs approach isn’t the only way to take down a GPP.

Let’s jump into tonight’s slate to help you take down a DraftKings GPP.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: October 19 – Point Guards

Elite

Russell Westbrook ($11,000) vs. NY

Mr. Triple-Double takes the court for the first time this year at the most expensive price tag on the slate. It remains to be seen how much the addition of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony will impact his numbers, but he won’t be as ball dominant this year. Regardless, Westbrook averaged 79.9 DraftKings points in two games against the Knicks last year. Be aware that the Thunder are favored by 12 points, which could limit his minutes if the game becomes a blowout.

Mid-Tier

Kyle Lowry ($7,900) vs. CHI

Lowry is a great pivot off Westbrook for a significantly cheaper price. He’s coming off a career-best season and a great source of fantasy points in multiple categories. The Raptors are a 13-point favorite in a game with the lowest implied total on the slate, which might limit his upside, but a 6x value performance is never in question with Lowry.

Lonzo Ball ($6,800) vs. LAC

The rookie takes the court for his first regular season game tonight after a good showing during the summer league/preseason. Ball proved that he can fill the box score in multiple categories and will be the primary ball handler for the uptempo Lakers. His size and passing ability make him a special talent, so don’t be surprised if Ball’s stat line resembles something close to a triple-double.

Value

Jerian Grant ($5,300) vs. TOR

Grant will be the Bulls starting point guard until Kris Dunn returns from injury. He will see a major uptick in minutes this year and had an impressive preseason. The Bulls are in full rebuild mode and are in desperate need of scoring options. Grant is a great value at $5,300 with 7x value upside.

Jordan Clarkson ($4,300) vs. LAC

The Lakers play the Clippers in a matchup with an O/U of 220.5 points that should stay close. Clarkson will remain a key part of the second unit this year and should see plenty of usage. He’s an impressive athlete that can put up points in a hurry. The Lakers have a more talented group than last year, which could give Clarkson a boost in some counting stats. He’s a good bet for 6x value tonight against the Clippers reserves.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: October 19 – Shooting Guards

Elite

DeMar DeRozan ($8,300) vs. CHI

DeRozan is the top shooting guard option on tonight’s  DraftKings NBA slate by a long shot. He worked the Bulls for 50.5 DraftKings points over three games last season. DeRozan sported a 35.6 percent usage rate last year, which is 9 percent more than teammate Kyle Lowry. He’s decently undervalued for having an elite ceiling.

Mid-Tier

Justin Holiday ($5,900) vs. TOR

Holiday will be filling in at shooting guard for the Bulls with Zach LaVine sidelined. He can score the ball from the perimeter on a team that lacks consistent offensive options. Holiday should see 30 minutes tonight, coming off a nice showing during the preseason in which he averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, three assists and two steals per game.

Tim Hardaway Jr. ($5,800) vs. OKC

The Melo-era is over in New York and there are big shoes to fill. The Knicks aren’t paying Hardaway Jr. $71 million over four years to not let him dominate the ball in his second stint with the team. He’s a threat to score from the perimeter, averaging 1.9 threes per game last year. If the Knicks stand a chance of staying competitive in this game, Hardaway Jr. should have a large role.

Value

Lou Williams ($5,000) vs. LAL

The former Sixth Man of the Year will see a high usage rate as the primary offensive weapon for the Clippers second unit. Williams is a strong source of points and three-pointers who can heat up in a hurry. He dropped 53.5 DraftKings points in his one game against the Lakers last year. With Chris Paul in Houston, Williams will be relied on to fill the scoring void.

Courtney Lee ($4,000) vs. OKC

Lee is a great value play tonight at only $4,000. As we know, the Knicks are going to need help putting the ball in the hoop. We’ve seen Lee put up quality scoring numbers when given the minutes. The Knicks starting lineup hasn’t been officially announced, but Lee could find his way in at either the shooting guard or small forward spot. Either way, Lee is expected to see starters minutes at a cheap price tag.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: October 19 – Small Forwards

Elite

Paul George ($8,100) vs. NY

Chemistry is certainly a question for the Thunder, but George’s superstar talent is too elite to overlook. George should see a solid amount of opportunities even while sharing the court with two other All-Stars. He’s great source of points, threes and rebounds, and could see an increase in efficiency. I can’t argue if you want to pay up here at small forward.

Mid-Tier

Carmelo Anthony ($7,200) vs. NY

The narrative is hard to deny here. Anthony’s first game with the Thunder is against his former team. He’s $900 cheaper than teammate Paul George and has been a premier scorer since entering the league. He has SF and PF eligibility, which makes him even more valuable. We’ve seen Anthony as “the guy” on his previous teams for years, but now as a part of a “Big Three,” he could see fewer double teams.

Danilo Gallinari ($6,200) vs. LAL

Gallinari faces the Lakers in his first game with his new team. The pace of play should be fast in this one, which increases Gallinari’s value. The Lakers ranked in the bottom five in three-point field goal percentage allowed last season. Gallinari attempted 5.1 threes per game in the 2016-17 season and we should expect similar numbers with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan holding down the inside.

Value

Brandon Ingram ($5,100) vs. LAC

There’s a lot of value to be had on this young Lakers team that expected to push the rock. Ingram hasn’t broken out just yet, but the addition of Lonzo Ball should help get him better scoring opportunities. Magic Johnson has declared Ingram as the primary scorer on the team and has the talent to live up to the demands. At $5,100, Ingram is a solid GPP value play after having a quiet preseason.

Kyle Kuzma ($4,800) vs. LAC

Another young guy on the Lakers, Zuma was one of the biggest breakouts of the preseason. The rookie averaged 17.3 PPG during the preseason and could be poised for quality minutes off the bench. Rookies always come with a risk, but Zuma doesn’t appear to be phased by the  big stage. On a small slate like tonight’s, I don’t mind Zuma as a value play.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: October 19 – Power Forwards

Elite

Blake Griffin ($9,600) vs. LAL

It appears that the Clippers are now Griffin’s team with the departure of Paul. There were enough additions during the offseason to maintain a decent amount of spacing for Griffin and the Clippers offense. He averaged 41.4 DraftKings points against the Lakers in two games last year. Griffin is a special athlete who will see a bump in usage this year.

Kristap Porzingis ($7,700) vs. OKC

A nice pivot off Griffin for $1,900 less is Porzingis. He’s the face of the Knick franchise now that Melo is out. Porzingis provides solid numbers in the points, rebounds and blocks categories while adding a nice dose of threes. He has dual position eligibility should you want to roster multiple PFs tonight.

Mid-Tier

Julius Randle ($5,800) vs. LAC

We saw Randle have a break out year last season and is expected to continue the momentum. He’s a strong double-double candidate night in and night out. Randle is trouble in the paint when he gets going and has developed great court vision, which boosts his assists numbers. For only $5,800, there’s a lot of value to be had here.

Lauri Markkanen ($5,600) vs. TOR

The Bulls are not only rebuilding this year, but they are too busy fighting each other as well. Bobby Portis is suspended for eight games after punching and fracturing the face of teammate Nikola Mirotic. The Bulls are now down two big men, which means Markkanen could quickly slide into a starting role and see plenty of minutes. The rookie has the ability to stretch the floor and knock down the three ball with nice efficiency.

Serge Ibaka ($5,400) vs. CHI

The Raptors are sporting a relatively similar look to last year, which means Ibaka will resume his role as the stretch power forward, while seeing some time at the center position as well. He remains one of the league’s elite shot blockers, but has developed a decent three -point shot over the years. Expect Ibaka to see a decent amount of open looks with the Bulls focused on shutting down Lowry and DeRozan.

Value

Michael Beasley ($3,900) vs. OKC

An exceptional talent in college, Beasley has found the transition to the NBA not nearly as smooth as hoped. As I’ve mentioned, the Knicks are in dire need of a playmaker on offense, which fits Beasley extremely well. He’s not short on confidence and has the ability to score quickly. Beasley also can add a variety of counting stats to his ball scoring talent. It shouldn’t take much for him to hit tournament value at his $3,900 price tag.

Center

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: October 19 – Centers

Elite

DeAndre Jordan($7,500) vs. LAL

Jordan is the clear elite option among pure centers. He carries an elite ceiling due to his shot blocking and inside scoring ability at a mid-tier price. The Lakers were one of the worst teams last year in terms of defensive rebounding rate. Jordan’s size and athleticism give way to a potential 20-plus rebound game.

Mid-Tier

Brook Lopez ($6,500) vs. LAC

More from FanSided

On the other side of the floor, Lopez will be making his first start for his new team. The inability of Timofey Mozgov to make an impact during his time with the Lakers has left a sour taste in people’s mouths in terms of assessing Laker big men. Brook Lopez is no Timofey Mozgov. Lopez’s ability to stretch the floor gives him an edge in an otherwise tough matchup. He posted 50.5 DraftKings points in his only game against the Clippers last year.

Robin Lopez ($5,200) vs. TOR

For $1,300 less, you can pivot to the “other” Lopez brother who finds himself in a good fantasy situation with the rebuilding Bulls. He’s known for his rebounding and defensive presence, but Lopez could be relied on to produce on the offensive end. We’ve seen him post solid double-double numbers when given enough looks at the rim.

Value

Guillermo Hernangomez ($5,000) vs. OKC

The center position is a little muddy in New York with Hernangomez battling against Enes Kanter and Kyle O’Quinn. Kanter is the best bet to beat him out at the position, but the Knicks could decide to use Kanter’s veteran leadership in a second unit role. If he manages to log enough minutes, he’s a near lock for a double-double and a great free throw shooting big man. Hernangomez could be a snaky GPP play tonight.

Jonas Valanciunas ($4,800) vs. CHI

As long as the Raptors don’t choose to switch to a small lineup during the game, Valanciunas is quite underpriced. With quality court time, the Raptors big man is a great source of rebounds and over ten points. The game could be heavily one-sided, but at $4,800 it could be worth the risk.
