Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will start on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills and could have a fantasy football impact.

Jameis Winston will not miss any time with a shoulder injury in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineup or your fantasy lineup. While it makes a huge impact on whether Winston rides the bench, this news really impacts other fantasy players on the Buccaneers.

Winston is only having an okay year this year. Through five games, Winston has seven touchdowns, three interceptions, and about 1,250 yards. While that is not terrible, it is only good for 15.08 points per game which ranks 17th among quarterbacks.

Winston will be playing against a stout Buffalo Bills defense. They have held opposing quarterbacks to two touchdowns and about 1,250 yards. They have also recorded eight interceptions.

Winston is not a solid play this week. The Bills defense will swallow him up, chew him up and spit him back out. That does not mean his fantasy contributions are not important this week, though. Winston’s supporting cast will be glad he is out there for the Buccaneers.

Mike Evans, who is scoring 16.42 PPR points per game, is still a WR1 this week, even up against a tough Bills defense. DeSean Jackson, who has not had a fantastic fantasy season so far, is a fringe WR3/FLEX player this week in PPR leagues. Someone will have to get the ball, though.

On that note, Cameron Brate is back up to a TE1 with Winston in. He is third behind Zach Ertz and Rob Gronkowski at 14.6 PPR points per game. Start him with confidence. OJ Howard, on the other hand, is not worth a roster spot, especially this week.

Doug Martin is a RB2 this week, although that has nothing to do with Winston’s status. Martin has caught two balls in two games, meaning a backup quarterback may actually target him more.

The last player impacted is the Bills D/ST. They are a must-start this week, even with Winston playing. With the quarterback having a bit of a bum shoulder, his accuracy may be off, meaning interceptions could come more frequently.

Altogether, Jameis Winston starting should not impact your quarterback spot unless you have no other options. His presence will help guys like Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, and Cameron Brate, though.
