Falcons at Patriots: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
We’re getting ready to see the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons renew acquaintances. Which team will prevail in this Super Bowl rematch?
For the second straight year and the third time in four seasons, we are getting an immediate Super Bowl rematch in the home of the defending NFL champions. A year ago in Week 1, the Denver Broncos followed up their 24-10 triumph at Levi’s Stadium with a 21-20 win over the Carolina Panthers in the Mile High City.
This time around, the New England Patriots play host to the reeling Atlanta Falcons – losers of two straight after a 3-0 start. And we don’t think we have to remind you what happened to Dan Quinn’s team eight months ago on the first Sunday of February.
Odds
Line: Patriots (-3)
Over/Under: 55
The 3-point spread (that info courtesy of SportsBook Review) isn’t nearly as intriguing as that big over/under number sitting at a whopping 55. Perhaps the question is whether the Falcons and Patriots surpass that total by halftime.

Forget the jokes. Under Dan Quinn, the Atlanta Falcons have struggled to close the deal. In 2015, the team was 5-0 and missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record. A year ago, we saw them squander a 17-point at home to the Chargers in an overtime loss. There was the Super Bowl LI disaster in Houston and last week’s collapse against the Dolphins. But the team can make amends of sorts by getting back on track in this Super rematch. Of course, that’s easier said than done as the New England Patriots offense looks as potent as ever. And while Bill Belichick’s club still has its issues, you get the sense they are figuring things out and will once again hand the Falcons a stinging loss.
