Leicester fired manager Craig Shakespeare with the club in 18th place after picking up only six points in their first eight games. The Foxes travel to Liberty Stadium to face 13th place Swansea on Saturday.

Swansea defeated Huddersfield 2-0 last week, with Tammy Abraham scoring both goals for the Swans. The Chelsea loanee has scored four of Swansea’s five goals this season. Only Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have scored fewer goals than the Swans this season. While the Swans have been disappointing offensively, they are one of the better clubs defensively. Only four clubs have allowed fewer goals than the eight Swansea has.

Leicester drew three of their past four games but it wasn’t good enough for Shakespeare to keep his job. The Foxes are hoping another mid-season manager change will kick-start their season the same way it did last year when Shakespeare replaced title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri. Assistant Michael Appleton will take over for the rest of the season. Previously, Appleton served as the manager for Oxford United, Blackburn, Blackpool and Portsmouth. Appleton will look to improve Leicester’s defense. Only three teams have allowed more goals than the 18 the Foxes have allowed this season. If the club improves defensively, they could climb up the table. Only seven clubs have scored more goals than Leicester. Jamie Vardy leads the club with five goals, while Shinji Okazaki has scored three times.
