Denver Nuggets PF Paul Millsap out indefinitely after wrist surgery

Paul Millsap probably won’t play again this season, and that is a shame.

Denver Nuggets starting power forward Paul Millsap missed Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, and he had his wrist examined for further information. The news wasn’t great. He will be out indefinitely after surgery.

Millsap is averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals per game, and that is quite a versatile stat line. His influence as one of the main veterans on a young team can’t be understated. He is also shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc. The power forward was injured initially versus the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. The Nuggets are 10-7 so far this year, and they would make the playoffs if they started today.

Kenneth Faried will most likely replace Millsap in the lineup, and it will be interesting to see how Denver responds to this setback. Nikola Jokic is having an incredible year, but it is difficult to carry a team to the playoffs on your own in the Western Conference. Millsap is getting older, and so he’ll take his time returning to the court. The Nuggets will have to grow up fast without him. That is for sure.

If they want to make the postseason, a lot of players will have to step up to replace Millsap’s production. Jokic is the key. He is averaging 15.6 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Those are impressive numbers for such a young player.

The Nuggets will obviously hope to get Millsap back quickly, but there are no guarantees when it comes to wrist surgery. They’ll have to make do without him for a while, and that is a shame. Here is hoping that his procedure goes well and that we get to see him on the court again soon.
