Main’s Mavericks – Week 13 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks

Main’s Mavericks is providing Week 13 DraftKings NFL contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using all of my picks in Week 13 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that $1,000,000 lineup.

If you have read any of my weekly editions of Main’s Mavericks, you will know that this is where the “how I did last week” section usually is. However, I took week 12 off from DraftKings NFL competitions due to a holiday vacation in Costa Rica. My whole vacation I did nothing but scout beaches, mentally preparing myself for week 13’s slate of Draftkings NFL GPP contests. So be prepared to win some money this week!

Through week 13, Main’s Mavericks has 13 top 10 finishers at their respective positions’. 7 of those top 10 finishers ranked 5^th or better, with 3 1^st overall finishes (CJ Anderson week 2, Jerick McKinnon week 6, TY Hilton week 9).

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – NOVEMBER 26: Frank Gore

QB:

Trevor Siemian 4,800 @ MIA (32^nd Priced QB)

This is not a great week for cheap QBs, and personally I think that I will pay up for a stud. But, if you need to make space for some top guys, look no further than Trevor Siemian. Dude is hungry and he has nothing to lose. After yet another midgame QB benching – ankle injury of not, Paxton Lynch was headed for the pine – this season for the Broncos, Siemian had a solid couple of quarters against Oakland. Now he is matched up against a weak Miami secondary with his weapons healthier than when Siemian struggled earlier in the season.

RB:

Duke Johnson Jr. 4,800 @ LAC (26^th Priced RB)

Duke Johnson has been a lone bright spot of the incredulous Cleveland Browns offense. He is a safe 10 DK points and he has 20 point upside, hitting that mark twice this year (per DrafKings.com). Crowell is not much of a threat to Johnson this week. Game flow will favor a pass receiving back like Johnson and he has outsnapped Crowell in each of his last 3 games (per fantasypros.com).

Frank Gore 3,800 @ JAX (56^th Priced RB)

Gore gets no respect! This guy is as consistent as his social security checks, and DraftKings could not care less. His price tag remains under $4,000 despite averaging 12 DK points per game over his last 4 games (stats per fantasydata.com). Now he is matched up against a Jacksonville team that embarrassed the Colts the last time out. I do not know if Gore possess top 5 potential, but he can easily outperform his price tag by 4-5 times.

WR:

Emmanuel Sanders 4,900 @ MIA (39^th Priced WR)

I will stack Siemian with Sanders this week in at least 1 lineup. Miami has struggled to cover WRs the last 4 weeks, giving up 70 receptions for 670 yards and 6 TDs (per fantasy.nfl.com). The price tag is higher than it should be given Sanders recent performance. I am hoping that will drop his ownership and we can reap the rewards.

Jermaine Kearse 4,300 v KC (59^th Priced WR)

I love me a target monster, and Kearse is one of my favorites! 30 targets over the last 4 weeks (per fantasypros.com), yet his price tag has not accounted for the uptick. I assume it is because everyone is flocking towards Robby Anderson, a guy who has been great but extremely reliant on TDs. The KC secondary gives up the 2^nd most fantasy points per game to WRs, allowing a staggering 1,866 yards and 16 TDs through 12 weeks (courtesy of fantasy.nfl.com). Kearse should feast this week.

Cordarelle Patterson 3,400 v NYG (88^th Priced WR)

Patterson is a pure upside play. Derek Carr has to throw to someone, right? Michael Crabtree’s antics earned him a one game suspension, and Amari Cooper is questionable after leaving last week’s game. I thought about Seth Roberts in this spot, but Roberts is more expensive and Patterson finished Sunday’s contest with more targets and receptions. Plus, Cordarrelle’s 4.3 speed makes every catch a potential highlight.

TE:

C.J Fiedorowicz 2,800 @ HOU (27^th Priced TE)

Since returning from the IR, in 3 games Fieorowicz has been targeted 16 times. Now he enters this Sunday’s game against a Tennessee Titans team allowing the 2^nd most receptions to TEs over the past 4 weeks (fantasy.nfl.com). TE contribution is extremely difficult to predict, but I love the matchup this week for CJ. I think he is a lock to outperform his price tag this week.
