Newcastle enter the weekend in 15th place, with 15 points in their first 15 games. On Saturday, the Toon host Leicester at St James’ Park. Leicester are ninth in the Premier League with 20 points.

Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle team have tumbled down the Premier League table after picking up only one point in their last six games. Over that stretch, the Magpies have struggled to score goals, finding the back of the net only four times. Overall, Newcastle have scored 14 goals, the seventh fewest in the Premier League. No Newcastle player has scored more than two goals this season. Upfront, the Magpies will likely start Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Pérez up front. Gayle scored in Newcastle’s loss to Chelsea last weekend but if either player struggles, Benitez will bring Joselu or Aleksandar Mitrovic off of the bench.

Leicester have slowly been moving up the table after a slow start to the season. In their last three games, the Foxes have picked up seven points. Leicester’s ability to rise up the table is thanks to an improved defense. The Foxes sat as low as 18th place in the table, allowing 12 goals in their first six games. Over their past seven games, Leicester have allowed only eight goals, allowing the club to move into the top half of the table. Leicester are eighth with 20 goals this season. Jamie Vardy has seven goals this year but has scored only two in his past nine games.
