The Temple Owls will play the Florida International Panthers in the Gasparilla Bowl on Thursday night. Here is how to watch this holiday season bowl online.

It might be the shortest day of the year, but yes, there will be football on your television screen on Thursday night. No, I’m not talking about a bad Thursday night game in the NFL. I’m talking about the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparailla Bowl. Get fired up for that.

The 2017 Gasparilla Bowl will be between the Temple Owls (6-6) of the AAC and the Florida International Panthers (8-4) of Conference USA. Kickoff from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida will be at 8:00 p.m. ET on Dec. 21. ESPN will have the telecast with Anish Shroff and Mike Golic Jr. in the booth. The available live streams can be found on WatchESPN and on FuboTV.

Temple enters play at 6-6 (4-4) on the year. The Owls managed to get to their seventh bowl game in school history, doing so under first-year head coach Geoff Collins. Losing former head coach Matt Rhule to the Baylor Bears was tough, but this team is Temple Tough to its core. Going .500 in both the regular season and AAC play was enough to get them to the Gasparilla Bowl.

Florida International enters play at 8-4 (5-3) on the year. The Panthers had a great first season under new head coach Butch Davis. Florida International came in second in the Conference USA East division to only the arch rival Florida Atlantic Owls. The Panthers don’t like Owls normally, so maybe they give their best to Temple in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Temple’s recent success under both Rhule and Collins should make the Owls the favorite in the ball game. Then again, Davis is a proven head coach, having had success with the Miami Hurricanes and the North Carolina Tar Heels before taking over at Florida International.
