Only one point separates Burnley and Tottenham in the Premier League table. The Clarets are sixth, with 32 points, one point, and place ahead of Spurs. While Burnley have overachieved this season, Tottenham have had a disappointing start to the season after finishing second last year.

Burnley’s success this season can be attributed to the strong defensive game plan manager Sean Dyche has installed. The Clarets, along with Manchester City and Manchester United have allowed the fewest goals this season. In their last game, Burnley played to a scoreless draw with Brighton. The clean sheet was the third straight for the club. While Burnley have been excellent defensively, the Clarets have scored only 16 goals this season, the sixth fewest. Chris Wood leads the club with four goals this season.

Tottenham were clinically picked apart by Manchester City in their last game, losing 4-1. The loss was Spurs’ fourth in their last nine games. With four games in the next nine days, manager Mauricio Pochettino will have to rotate his squad to keep his team fresh at some point during the holidays. Davinson Sánchez will likely come back into the starting XI following a suspension. Tottenham have scored the fifth most goals in the Premier League with 31. Harry Kane leads the club with 12 goals, however, Dele Alli has struggled this season. The English international has scored only three goals and could have been sent off against City for a reckless challenge.
