Detroit Pistons – Live life one day at a time

I want to enjoy this Pistons season for what it is for as long as I can. Do you remember what happened last season?

I’ll be honest: I don’t. I was never really in a masochistic enough frame of mind to sit through an entire game. Did you know they had four games go into overtime? One of them even went into double overtime! That’s just cruel. It’s like paying for your hamster’s life-saving surgery and then dropping it in a garbage disposal. It’s not exactly like that, but I’m in a weird headspace right now.

Anyway, this season is different. Their highs are higher, and their lows are far more entertaining. Remember when Stanley Johnson went 0-36 or whatever it was on opening night? That was more fun than anything that happened last year. It wasn’t good, but it wasn’t something that would make you turn the game off in a bored rage. Have you ever been so bored that you’ve gotten angry? That was last year. This year you get so enthralled by Tobias Harris taking a step and Reggie Jackson looking closer to 2015 Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond looking closer to 2015 Andre Drummond and now operating out of the high post sometimes. It’s wonderful.

Remember when Stan Van Gundy did this?

Oh. Wait. No. That’s not fun at all. That’s the opposite of fun.

But this was a few days ago. Since we’re going just one day at a time, that’s in the long past. Who knows what today might bring?
