After getting “fired” by Kurt Angle to open WWE Monday Night RAW, Braun Strowman wreaked all kinds of havoc.

If you happened to miss WWE Monday Night RAW this week, you missed quite the spectacle as the show kicked off with a “monster” segment (wrestling puns are amazing). Braun Strowman made his way to the ring to gloat about the damage he inflicted last week upon his Royal Rumble opponents, Kane and WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

If you’ll recall, as Lesnar and Kane battled in the backstage area, Strowman got involved, taking out both men, including flinging Brock across the room, and followed it up by pulling a giant piece of backstage rigging down on top of them in yet another display of power.

Here’s a quick recap if you missed it.

As Strowman was about to gloat, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle made his way down to the ring to confront the big man about his actions, telling him that he had taken things too far and that he was out of the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. But not only that, Angle did his best Vince McMahon impression, even including the pause, and told Strowman that he was FIRED from WWE.

With security surrounding the ring, Angle quickly made his way up the ramp to the backstage area as Braun looked on from the ring. There was no immediate uproar from Strowman, although the crowd was quite upset, and he peacefully made his way to the back. But we all knew that wouldn’t last and it made for quite the entertaining hour as Braun Strowman promised carnage with an amazing quote.

Awesome.

From there, Strowman made his way to Kurt Angle’s office and went nuts, chucking furniture through the TV screen, breaking some art and simply destroying everything in his path.

While the highlight following this next one will end up being the focus next week or next month or whenever, what happened next was easily my favorite moment of the night. After someone came in and yelled to some folks, including Curt Hawkins, sitting in the catering area that Strowman was headed their way, the Monster Among Men made his way in, threw some more things and then slammed Hawkins through a table.

You would think that would have been it, but as the camera panned over, there was another random guy standing there, only this one was holding a chocolate cake. The audience reaction was priceless as everyone just knew that Strowman was going to throw it in the guy’s face. However, it was comedy that won over as Braun simply grabbed a piece of cake, took a bite and walked away. Glorious.

Following a quick comeback segment which saw Strowman kick around a dumpster, we went back to a match but were soon backstage again as Kurt Angle had no choice but to call the cops. A few minutes later, it was announced that Strowman was on his way to a production truck. After running in, asking what everything was, punching a few buttons and scaring a whole load of people, we cut to Strowman inside the now-disconnected truck. Braun jumped out of the truck and attempted to flip it over, much like we’ve seen him do in the past. Angle caught up to him and told him the cops were on the way, which prompted Strowman to stop what he was doing and walk away.

However, he was only gone for a moment as he made his way back into frame and continued his attempt, which turned out to be successful. Yes, the segment was obviously taped a little earlier, which was quite evident given all the camera angles, but it still made for great television. Here’s the quick highlight.

And here’s the full segment.

After tipping the truck, Strowman made his way back to the arena and headed towards the announcers. Corey Graves, Booker T and Michael Cole all jumped up quickly and while Graves and Booker were able to get away, Cole wasn’t so lucky. Braun grabbed the veteran announcer and just whipped him around a little bit until Angle burst in with the news that Stephanie McMahon had rehired Strowman, who celebrated with a “ROAR” before tossing Cole off the stage onto a group of security personnel.

Just think. ALL of this went down in the first hour, which actually upset me a little bit. With this pretty much being a filler episode on the way to the 25th anniversary show and the Royal Rumble, having Braun Strowman destroy people and property all night would have been the way to go. It’s not that there weren’t decent matches and segments throughout the rest of the show, including the return of the Curb Stomp from Seth Rollins, but things certainly went a little south when Strowman disappeared for the night.  Monday was a big night for the big man and 2018 is going to be a huge year for Braun Strowman.
