Even Dale Earnhardt Jr. no match for snowy North Carolina roads

Even with his full time racing days behind him, Junior can’t always escape slick tracks and minor wrecks.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. probably hoped he said goodbye to crashing cars once he ended his NASCAR Cup Series career at the end of the 2017 season. Unfortunately, Mother Nature can still bring out a caution or two.

Such was the case Wednesday in North Carolina, when the state got hit with a pretty bad snowfall by its standards. As this writer can attest having gone to college in that state, any serious snow can be the type of thing that gets drivers to just abandon their cars on the side of the interstate rather than risk driving in it.

Dale Jr, though, braved the elements and even played Good Samaritan by helping out someone who was stuck after running off the road. Alas, as The Sporting News reports, he soon needed some assistance of his own.

When one of the most popular NASCAR stars ever tells you to reconsider driving because the roads are treacherous, maybe everyone should take heed.

The Sporting News also points out that Earnhardt will have to get accustomed to weather like that given that he’ll be helping NBC with coverage of the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics next month. He should find the weather much nicer when he slides into the NASCAR broadcast booth, as NBC picks up its coverage of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series mid-summer as usual.
