I’m sure there was a point in Russell Westbrook’s life where he was picked last at something. He thought he was picked last in this years All-Star draft, so he took it out on the Wizards on Thursday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder came into Thursday’s game against the Washington Wizards riding a five game winning streak. They beat the Wizards 121-112, and extended that streak to six games. Before the game Russell Westbrook, the team’s only All-Star was shown the rosters for the upcoming All-Star game, and noticed that he was last on the list. Who was right in front of him? None other than his opponent John Wall.
So not only did Westbrook think he was taken last to be on Team LeBron, but that his opponent for that night was picked one spot ahead of him. Looks like that didn’t sit too well with Westbrook, because he went out and dropped 46 points with 21 of them coming in the fourth quarter to close it out.
After the game he was asked about being selected to Team LeBron, and gave a basic answer saying that it was nice, and that he was happy they finally got the teams figured out. It was only after his teammate Carmelo Anthony yelled from across the room to tell the reporters how he really felt that he brought up the fact that he thought he was picked last saying “But I see I was the last pick on the list — I was just trying to figure out how …”

There’s just one problem. The list was in alphabetical order, and it seems Westbrook didn’t know that. The draft wasn’t televised like it should have been so we’ll never know the actual order, but I think it’s safe to say that Westbrook was probably not drafted last.
It’s a good thing he thought he was drafted last, because angry Westbrook is the best Westbrook, and the Thunder may not have won without his performance on Thursday. Hopefully next year the league will televise the draft just so we can see who is actually drafted last.
