Trade season finally kicked off and the first salvo of what is hopefully an eventful run up to the deadline was a doozy: Blake Griffin shockingly shipped from sunny LA to the frozen Siberian tundra chilly Detroit. Will the Clippers unloading a “Clipper for life” they just signed to a five-year max contract be the first domino to fall? Was this a desperate gambit by Stan van Gundy and the Pistons? Could DeAndre Jordan and Doc Rivers still lead Los Angeles into the playoffs despite losing the face of the franchise?
On the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast we tackle these questions plus look at a whole host of other issues from the last few days of basketball, including:
- Will Griffin’s movie aspirations and fledgling comedy career by derailed by the move? Perhaps he could reboot RoboCop or Beverly Hills Cop??
- Will the pairing of Griffin and Andre Drummond help or hinder their individual passing abilities?
- Was Mike Malone’s surprising and highly criticized decision to not use a timeout in the final seconds of a close game actually the correct move?
- Are the Bucks missing Jason Kidd at all?
- Have you ever heard the story of how Jerry West allegedly offered Brian Cardinal a full midlevel contract when he worked for the Grizzlies?
- Has Memphis secretly become fun since they realized the playoffs aren’t attainable?
- Would you rather leave your phone in an Uber or with someone you met on Tinder?
