Every February, college football has its biggest recruiting day of the year, National Signing Day. This will culminate the recruiting process for all Division-I programs, who will lock up commitments for their respective 2018 teams. For some, it will be with new coaches in charge, including Willie Taggart at Florida State, Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M and Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee.
Heading into National Signing Day, there are a handful of big names set to announce their school decision. This includes Patrick Surtain Jr.’s choice between Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Miami; Tyson Campbell will choose from Alabama, Georgia and Miami; Nick Petit-Frere will decide between Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama and Stanford. All three recruits will make their respective decisions at 10:00 a.m. ET.
Most of the top recruits already committed, however. It starts with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who 247Sports considers the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2018. He will attend Clemson this fall. The same goes for strong-side defensive end Xavier Thomas, who ranks No. 3.
Still, National Signing Day should be another intriguing day of the college football offseason, as high school athletes bring their friends and families together to make the announcement on live TV. Some choose to avoid the cameras and be quiet about their business.
