Canada takes on China in session 3 of mixed doubles curling round-robin tournament. Watch online and by live stream.
At the end of the first two sessions of the Olympic mixed doubles curling round-robin tournament — a new event at the Olympics and one they scheduled far too early — the field is wide open.
Switzerland is out ahead, having one both its opening matches, with nearly everyone else 1-for-2. (Except for dear sweet Finland, who lost both.) China and Canada are both favorites for the tournament and lost their respective first matches in close games with potentially controversial calls. (China vs. Switzerland went to overtime after a bumped stone that almost called for official intervention.) All warmed up, China and Canada could benefit from the extra point of winning this game, which could prove decisive if they sweep their competition through the rest of the tournament. (Canada, of course, still has to face Switzerland.)
After the first two rounds, the point totals for each country are as follows:
- Switzerland (2)
- USA (1)
- Korea (1)
- Canada (1)
- China (1)
- Russia (1)
- Norway (1)
- Finland (0)
