It’s being reported by F4Wonline that Rey Mysterio has suffered a torn bicep during an independent wrestling match.

Rey Mysterio has reportedly suffered a torn bicep during a match for Northeast Wrestling, according to Dave Meltzer from F4Wonline. As rumors about Mysterio being set for a return to the WWE and even having a high-profile match with John Cena, there’s no doubt what horrible timing it is for Mysterio to get injured if he were supposed to make a return to the company. And let’s not forget he’s still scheduled for a return match to New Japan Pro Wrestling against wrestling veteran Jushin “Thunder” Liger for the NJPW Strong Style Evolved event this month. However, due to Mysterio’s injury, that match may be cancelled if his injury is that severe.

Meltzer also reported that Mysterio was scheduled to be examined today to determine how severe his injury may be. And if Mysterio’s injury is that severe, it may ruin any possible plans for him to return to at Wrestlemania. Keep in mind that Mysterio is 43 years of age, which may play a role in slowing down his recover, depending on the status of his injury.

Rey Mysterio is considered one of the greatest performers in pro wrestling, and a multi-time world champion for WWE. With his star power and popularity, this would be a huge loss for both WWE and NJPW if Mysterio’s injury takes him out of action for a long period of time. There was a lot of buzz around Mysterio when he made his return to this year’s Royal Rumble match, especially considering the fact that he looked to be in tremendous shape since he left the company. But due to his injury, who knows what’s in store for Mysterio’s future?

However, this doesn’t mean Mysterio can’t be involved with a huge program with WWE or any other wrestling promotion if he was to be out of action past WrestleMania. We’ll just have to wait for him to heal up.
