NFL Draft 2018: Atlanta Falcons 7-round mock
By Joe Romano
Round 3 – Pick 90
Anthony Miller, WR, Memphis
The only holes that Atlanta can really point to are free agency based. After losing Poe, the team will also part ways with wide receiver Taylor Gabriel. The speedster was third in the pecking order after Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu. Atlanta will need to look towards the draft to find a versatile weapon who can be the third wheel on the team.
Anthony Miller of Memphis is a name to keep an eye on for the Falcons. Miller is undersized at only 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. He was also one of the most productive players in the NCAA a year ago. A foot issue cost him the Senior Bowl, which also will push his stock down a bit should he not perform at the combine.
On tape Miller shows crisp route running and run after the catch ability. His size will push him into a WR3 role, ideal for this team. There is also concerns with his hands. He is often seen dropping or double-catching some of the easier throws he gets.
With Jones and Sanu on the team, Atlanta really needs a player that can work different levels of the field and take pressure off those two. Miller could do that extremely well. He may not possess the deep speed threat the team loses in Gabriel but he gives them an hard working gamer to plug into that role.
