Eagles trade for Michael Bennett from Seahawks
The Philadelphia Eagles have added even more firepower to their championship defensive line, landing pass-rusher Michael Bennett from the Seattle Seahawks.
The rich are getting richer in the NFL. On Wednesday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks traded defensive end Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. in return, the Eagles are sending a 2018 fifth-round pick and wide receiver Marcus Johnson to the Emerald City. The Seahawks are also sending a seventh-round choice to Philadelphia.

Bennett, 32, is coming off a 8.5-sack season in Seattle, his third consecutive Pro Bowl season. For his career, the former Texas A&M star has 51 sacks, including a career-high 10 back in 2015.
For Seattle, this move signals the start of a major roster rebuild, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Seahawks are likely to allow Sheldon Richardson to leave in free agency, and there is ample talk about Richard Sherman being moved in the coming hours/days. Earl Thomas has also been the source of trade rumors, while Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril are unlikely to return.

Meanwhile, the Eagles continue to add to a terrifying group of pass-rushers. Chris Long and Vinny Curry might be salary cap casualties, but Bennett would join a line that includes Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, Timmy Jernigan and Fletcher Cox.
As for salary cap ramifications, the Seahawks are taking on $5.2 million in dead money this season, saving only $2.2 million. As for the Eagles, they remain over the $177.2 million cap, and will have to be compliant by the new league year on March 14 at 4 p.m. ET.
