The Green Bay Packers cut wide receiver Jordy Nelson after 10 seasons. But the NFL wide receiver market is still hot as Nelson receives interest from multiple teams.

The Green Bay Packers defense might have to line up against homegrown talent Jordy Nelson sometime this season.

Nelson’s production dipped significantly in 2017, and missing quarterback Aaron Rodgers for half the season didn’t help much. Netting 482 yards and six touchdowns on 53 receptions was well below Nelson’s career averages of 872 yards and 7.6 touchdowns on 61 receptions.

But it can’t be forgotten that Nelson put together one of the best seasons in his career in 2016 after returning from surgery to repair an torn ACL, with 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Nelson was a cap casualty of the Packers, and by releasing him the team cleared $10.2 million in cap space. That’s no small amount, and the Packers have already been putting that money to work by signing tight end Jimmy Graham and defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson.

But Green Bay’s reported offer made to Nelson before he hit the open market reads as a little (read: a lot) stingy. According to Jason Wilde, the Packers offered Nelson not much more than the 10-year veteran minimum in 2018, which amounts to $1.015 million.

Well, apparently there are plenty of other NFL teams willing to offer Nelson a much fairer salary in 2018. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints all plan to have Nelson in for a visit:

Yahoo Sports’ Jordan Schultz also added the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers to the mix:

The Packers are slated to face the 49ers, the Seahawks and the Patriots in 2018, so there’s a decent chance that they’ll have a reunion with Nelson sooner rather than later.

For their sake, hopefully it doesn’t come in the postseason.
