Isaiah Thomas update: Lakers guard out with bad hip
By Staff
The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be without point guard Isaiah Thomas for at least two games, as the veteran recovers from an injured hip.
The NBA season is winding down, and Isaiah Thomas will be missing part of the upcoming week with an injured hip, according to ESPN. Thomas, 29, has been traded twice over the past season, first going from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers as the return centerpiece for Kyrie Irving, before being dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers as a spare part.
Thomas has been 15 points and five assists per game this season, a far cry from the 29 points per game that the veteran averaged with the Celtics in 2016-17 as an MVP candidate.
For the Lakers, it has been an inspiring campaign. Los Angeles isn’t going to make the playoffs at 32-40, but the campaign should breed hope in the City of Angels. Lonzo Ball started slow but has become one of the brighter young stars in the league, averaging 10 points seven rebounds and seven assists per game. Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle have also shown to be part of the future.

If the Lakers can land a star or two in the upcoming summer, there’s reason to believe Los Angeles could be a factor in the Western Conference sooner rather than later. With LeBron James and Paul George both set to hit the market come July 1, there’s a real chance that the Lakers are the center of everyone’s basketball attention in a few months.
