If you’re playing hooky to watch the STP 500 from Martinsville Speedway, Fox Sports has your back to ensure you don’t get jammed up at work or school.

Life as a NASCAR fan can be cruel sometimes. You wait for a month and a half to see the first short track race of the season, the STP 500 from Martinsville Speedway. Then snow intervenes and bumps the race to Monday afternoon.

Problem: You’re supposed to be at work. Or school, or something else life insists you do instead of watching the race.

While we don’t endorse skipping your other responsibilities to take in the STP 500, if you are going that route, we want you to know that Fox Sports has your back.

Those look pretty official. We’re not saying your boss or principal or homeroom teacher would definitely accept them, but we’re also not saying they wouldn’t.

(Obviously, it helps if the person you need to hand one to is a NASCAR fan as well … although maybe they aren’t at work or school themselves then.)

Props to Fox Sports for also including the fact that the Camping World Truck Series race, which actually got underway on Saturday afternoon before the precipitation began, as a reason why you’d need the entire day off.

Failing that, you can always keep up on the STP 500 with our live highlights post, but even we know that’s not the same as watching the race yourself. Fox Sports might have had tongue firmly in cheek when devising these excuse notes, but if you give either one of them a shot, hit us up on Twitter and let us know how it works out for you.
