Odell Beckham rumors: Rams willing to trade first-round pick
The Los Angeles Rams are making moves this offseason, but they may be willing to up the ante to get Odell Beckham Jr.
The Los Angeles Rams won the NFC West last season, but they are not resting on their laurels. They’ve made multiple trades, and the signing of Ndamukong Suh added another notable piece. Now they have emerged as a suitor for New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and Steve Wyche of NFL Network has reported the Ram are willing to part with a first-round pick in a deal to get him.
It’s not certain the Giants even want to trade Beckham, amid speculation he won’t show up to anything meaningful without a new contract, owner John Mara saying no one is untouchable coming off a 3-13 season and rumored elevated financial demands for that new deal. Off-field concerns are also in play, but the ankle injury that ended Beckham’s 2017 four games in is not in line to be a concern.
It is a unique set of teams who would have interest in Beckham. It will take draft pick capital to get the Giants’ attention, and Beckham would definitely prefer to go to a team that can and will give him the big new contract he seeks. Add in his personality and general propensity to draw attention to himself, and a strong locker room/coaching staff structure is a prerequisite to even consider making a deal for Beckham.

The Rams seem to know any offer for Beckham has to be one the Giants will have a hard time ignoring, probably centered around the 23rd overall pick in April’s draft, even if they are the lone rumored suitor right now. Among a bunch of all-in moves to keep themselves atop the NFC West, and move toward the top of the NFC, a trade for Beckham would be nice icing on the cake.
