The New York Giants are not closing the door on trading Odell Beckham Jr., and should they move him, these five teams are the best destinations.

The New York Giants are trying to rebuild and reload at the same time, and Odell Beckham Jr. is about to force them into choosing a path.

Beckham, 25, has long made it known that he wants to be the highest-paid player in the NFL. While that’s not happening with the Giants or any of the other 31 clubs, he has a chance to be the first receiver to average $20 million per year. After just four seasons in the league, the former LSU star has racked up 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns, despite missing 17 games in that span.

However, the Giants are willing to move the mercurial talent due to a host of issues. Beyond the contract demands, Beckham has been involved in his fair share of controversies, whether it’s a questionable hotel room video, busting up the locker room at Lambeau Field or partying on a boat in the days leading up to a playoff game.

Now, on Monday, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport is stating that Beckham won’t play a down this season with a new contract, one that New York has balked at paying out. With all that in mind, Beckham could be on the block in the four weeks leading up to the NFL Draft.

If the Giants want to reload and compete immediately, the move is to smooth things over with a fat check. If rebuilding is the path, the time has come to ship him out for picks.

So where could he go? These are the five best spots.

5. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers would make a ton of sense on multiple levels. After investing $137.5 million in Jimmy Garoppolo,he needs to have talent put around him. Right now, the top receiver on the team is Marquise Goodwin, and there is little else on the depth chart behind him.

San Francisco has more than $46 million in cap space and could easily afford a lucrative extension beyond this season. The 49ers give Beckham a good, young team to play for along with beautiful weather and an offensive-minded coach.
