Anthony Davis continues building brand with ExxonMobil partnership
New Orleans Pelican star forward Anthony Davis has a new spokesperson gig that he feels fits nicely into his portfolio.
Fresh off his April Fools prank in which he teased fans about shaving his iconic “unibrow,” Anthony Davis is using his ever-increasing visibility to promote ExxonMobil’s premium motor oil, Mobil 1 Annual Protection.
Davis has replaced Dikemebe Mutombo as a spokesperson for ExxonMobil, and will appear in a new campaign for the energy company across a wide variety of media. One of the reasons Davis is excited about the new opportunity is his affinity for automobiles.
“I’ve always been a car guy,” Davis said. “Growing up my dad was always working on them and I was around them because of that. I really enjoy taking care of all my cars now.”
Because of Davis’ passion for vehicles and his rising notoriety, he was a natural choice for ExxonMobil as it continues its partnership with the NBA which has existed since 2016. ExxonMobil’s Michele Biamonte shared the value that Davis brings to the brand.
“As we continue our partnership with the NBA, Anthony’s performance on the court is a great representation of the high performance that Mobil 1 Annual Protection brings to the cars, trucks and SUVs of our customers around the world,” Biamonte stated.
Davis returns the sentiment about his new partnership, looking forward to the opportunity to increase his visibility.
It’s great to partner with the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand,” Davis continued. “I use Mobil 1 because I know ExxonMobil takes pride in its work to get the most performance and protection out of a vehicle’s engine, just like the pride I take in my Pelicans teamwork on the court. I am especially excited to help promote Mobil 1 Annual Protection, an amazing and unique product that saves customers both time and money. I hope everyone enjoys our new commercials – they will certainly raise some eyebrows.”

While Davis’ focus is currently on helping the Pelicans try to hold on to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, it can soon shift to building his personal brand when the off-season comes. In those months, expect to see a lot of Davis repping Mobil 1.
