DraftKings Early MLB Picks April 11: Robbie Ray is money by the Bay.

DraftKings did some funky things with the games today. The seven games in the early slate are actually the larger tournament because they cut off the Tigers-Indians 6:05 Eastern start time again. That is only available in the pick em mode, which is a shame because we miss out on Carlos Carrasco. They only put six games in the main tournament and chopped off the Oakland-Dodgers game with a late start time. That is only available in showdown mode.

No rain is forecast as of now, but it could be a windy day in KC. If it’s from the south, it could push a few balls out to the left field power alley.

SEATTLE, WA – MARCH 31: James Paxton #65 of the Seattle Mariners points to indicate Edwin Encarnacion #10 of the Cleveland Indians swung, but it’s called a walk in the first inning at Safeco Field on March 31, 2018 in Seattle, Washington. Top Tier:

Robbie Ray ($12,400): The Giants are hitting .271 on Ray, but they only have two homers and nine runs in 118 at bats. The 36 strikeouts are nice as well. Ray has more strikeout potential than anyone else on this slate. Another reason to use Ray? He is 3-1 with a 1.46 ERA in four career starts in San Francisco.

Lance McCullers Jr. ($11,100): The current Twins are hitting a horrible .135 against McCullers in 37 at bats, but three of those hits are doubles and they have five runs. The 13 strikeouts leave McCullers in the elite tier today. He can limit the damage with the strikeouts, and may be the best option of the afternoon.

James Paxton ($10,400): Even the struggling King Felix held the Royals in check last night. So forget that the Royals are hitting .355 against Paxton for a minute. They only have a .397 wOBA, which means the Royals aren’t getting a lot of hard hits. Paxton has held the Royals to just one homer and three runs in 31 at bats with a solid eight strikeouts. If you look past the unsightly average, there is decent potential here.

Middle Tier:

Kyle Gibson ($7,100): Gibson is off to a fast start this year, and he has really good past stats against Houston. The Astros are only hitting .175 against Gibson in 57 at bats with one homers and five runs, but only 10 strikeouts. Gibson has never been a strikeout pitcher, so his upside is capped, and he is a big risk against a potent offense like this since he wont have the strikeouts to save his score.

Danny Duffy ($6,900): Duffy got rocked on Opening Day, but was decent against Cleveland in his last start. The Mariners are hitting a solid .258 against Duffy in 62 at bats, but only have two homers and five runs with 14 strikeouts. There is good potential here. Duffy has a solid 3.89 career ERA at Kauffman Stadium.

Adam Wainwright ($6,300): Wainwright is off to yet another slow start, but the Brewers are only hitting .238 in 151 at bats against Wainwright with just two homers and 12 runs to go with 40 strikeouts. That number is a bit surprising since Wainwright isn’t really known as a strikeout guy. There is good potential here, but Wainwright got knocked around in the opener.

Bargain Pitchers:

German Marquez ($6,100): The Padres are hitting a solid .273 against Marquez, but they only have one homer and three runs in 33 at bats. The eight strikeouts show strong potential as well. It’s Coors Field. He’s going to give up runs, but if he can get some strikeouts, Marquez could walk away with a decent point total.

James Shields ($5,400): You have to have a strong stomach to use Shields, but he has held the Rays to a .172 average in 93 at bats with just one homer and eight runs to go with 23 strikeouts. Shields has not been sharp in either start this year, so there is risk involved. The Rays offense has woken up a bit on the South Side. They have 11 runs in in the first two games of this series.

Yonny Chirinos ($4,500): Well, if Yonny can hold the Red Sox scoreless over nine innings in his first two games of the season, there is definitely potential here against the other Sox as well. Chirinos wont eat innings, and isn’t much of a strikeout guy, but he has 30.1 DraftKings points in two games. That makes him a huge bargain at this price. Just keep in mind that Chirinos has only thrown 56 and 54 pitches in his two outings.

DENVER, CO – APRIL 06: Freddie Freeman #5 of the Atlanta Braves scores on a sacrifice fly by Preston Tucker in the first inning against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on April 6, 2018 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

The Braves have had an absolutely miserable series so far, but they have destroyed A.J. Cole for a .533 average with four homers and 16 runs in just 30 at bats! Leading the charge is Freddie Freeman. Freeman is 3-5 with a walk, a double, a homer, four runs scored, and three RBI against Cole.

A Coors stack is in order against Luis Perdomo. Perdomo has a 8.00 career ERA in three appearances at Coors Field. Ian Desmond is 4-5 with two walks, a steal, and two RBI in his career against Perdomo. Nolan Arenado is only 4-15 against Perdomo, but he has two walks, a double, to homers, four runs scored, and four RBI off of Perdomo.

The Diamondbacks have a lot of right handed power against rookie lefty Andrew Suarez. Paul Goldschmidt is obviously in play, but Chris Owings and A.J. Pollock look good as well.

Middle Tier:

Mike Moustakas has the Royals only homer against James Paxton, and is 2-5 lifetime.

Eric Hosmer doesn’t have a ton of power, but he is a career .368 hitter at Coors Field. He is a strong alternative to all of the high priced Rockies.

Bargain Shoppers:

Brian McCann is only 2-9 against Kyle Gibson, but he has the only homer and five of the seven RBI for the Astros against Gibson.

Kyle Seager is yet another cheap option. Seager is 5-17(.294) with a solo homer off of Danny Duffy.

Matt Carpenter is just $3,300, but he is 4-6 with two doubles and three runs scored against Junior Guerra.

Matt Adams is really cheap, and he is 5-10 with a walk, two doubles, a RBI, and a steal off of Brandon McCarthy. Expect to see Adams in the lineup with Zimmerman continuing to struggle.

Omar Narvaez is one of the few left handed hitting White Sox in the lineup, so I like him with the platoon advantage over Chrinos.

Wilson Ramos has two walks and a three run homer in five plate appearances against James Shields. If Ramos is in the lineup, he is worth a look.

SEATTLE, WA – AUGUST 10: Jean Segura #2 of the Seattle Mariners is greeted by Robinson Cano #22 of the Seattle Mariners after hitting a solo home run off of relief pitcher Bud Norris #20 of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during the eighth inning of a game at Safeco Field on August 10, 2017 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by Stephen Brashear/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Robinson Cano, despite not having the platoon advantage, is 6-20 with a walk, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Danny Duffy. Jean Segura is 2-4 with two walks and three runs scored in his career against Duffy.

Trevor Story is 6-11 with two doubles, two runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Perdomo. DJ LeMahieu is 6-15 with a double and three runs scored.

Middle Tier:

Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson are both worth a look. Albies is 3-4 with a homer, three runs scored, and two RBI against A.J. Cole. Swanson is also 3-4 with a double, two runs scored, and a RBI off Cole.

Bargain Shoppers:

Howie Kendrick is 7-16(.438) with three doubles, a steal, four runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Brandon McCarthy. Trea Turner has only faced McCarthy in one game, but he walked, singled, scored, and stole two bases.

Joe Panik is 6-14(.429) with a walk, a double, a steal, and two runs scored in his career against Robbie Ray.

WASHINGTON, DC – AUGUST 27: Charlie Blackmon #19 of the Colorado Rockies celebrates a solo home run in the third inning with Carlos Gonzalez #5 during a baseball game against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park on August 27, 2016 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Mitchell Layton/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

If Charlie Blackmon can go, I want him in my lineup. Blackmon is 5-13 with two walks, two homers, six runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Luis Perdomo. Carlos Gonzalez is 5-10 with a walk, a double, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Middle Tier:

Andrew McCutchen is 4-10 with two walks and a solo homer against Robbie Ray. Hunter Pence is very cheap, and he is 7-13(.538) with five walks, two doubles, two runs, and a RBI against Ray.

If Lorenzo Cain can play, I want him in my lineup. Cain is 4-9 with a double, a triple, a steal, four runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Wainwright. Hernan Perez is 5-13 with a double, a run, and a steal against Wainwright. At just $2,600, Perez is worth a look if he is in the lineup.

Marcell Ozuna is 2-3 with a homer and three RBI off of Junior Guerra. Dexter Fowler is only 1-4, but that hit is a home run.

Bargain Shoppers:

The Braves are way too cheap today, especially the outfielders. Nick Markakis, Preston Tucker, and Peter Bourjos are a combined 5-10 with two homers, six runs scored, and five RBI. The most expensive one is $3,100.

If you’re brave, Byron Buxton and Eddie Rosario have four of the five hits off of Lance McCullers. Three of those are doubles, and they are just $2,900 each.
