DraftKings Main MLB Picks April 11: Stack Cubs at Wrigley
DraftKings did some funky things with the games today. The seven games in the early slate are actually the larger tournament because they cut off the Tigers-Indians 6:05 Eastern start time again. That is only available in the pick em mode, which is a shame because we miss out on Carlos Carrasco. They only put six games in the main tournament and chopped off the Oakland-Dodgers game with a late start time. That is only available in showdown mode.

No rain is forecast as of now for the evening games either. The roof is expected to be closed in Miami though.

Next: DraftKings Pitcher Plays
Top Tier:
Jon Lester ($10,700): Personally, I want a little better past stats if I’m shelling out five figures for a pitcher. The Pirates are hitting .261 against Lester in 184 at bats with six homers and 22 RBI with only 49 strikeouts. On top of that, Lester has not pitched all that well this year. I think I would rather save my money and stack against one of the young pitchers out there.
Masahiro Tanaka ($9,300): Well, there is going to be a lot of people that avoid Tanaka after what the Red Sox did to Severino yesterday. However, the stats support Tanaka where they did not support Severino. The Red Sox are only hitting .234 with seven homers and 19 RBI in 188 at bats against Tanaka. The problem here is the low strikeout total. Tanaka has only fanned 32 of 188. If he gets knocked around, Tanaka wont have a good total at all.
Middle Tier:
Marco Estrada ($8,500): Estrada has held the Orioles to a .185 average in 178 at bats with nine homers and 18 runs with a strong 58 strikeouts. With Kevin Gausman on the mound opposite Estrada, he has a solid shot at a win. He is going to give up some runs, but with the amount of outs and strikeouts that Estrada records, Estrada can still come up with a good score here.
Nick Pivetta ($8,200): Pivetta has never faced the Reds before, but the Reds have only scored 19 runs in the last eight games. This whole offense is scuffling right now. When you take a look at the dominant performance that Pivetta turned in against the Marlins in his last start, there is really good potential here. Luis Castillo has struggled early on, so I much prefer Pivetta here. The Phillies are hitting the ball well right now anyway.
Bargain Pitchers:
Zach Wheeler ($7,500): Wheeler will make his 2018 debut here, and you really can’t ask for a better matchup than the Marlins. There is solid potential here, but Wheeler posted a 5.21 ERA last season. There is ample risk as well.
Jaime Barria ($5,300): Barria is one of the best prospects that the Angels have, and will make his major league debut tonight. This Texas offense has not been as explosive as last season, but there is a lot of left handed power in this lineup. Barria only has 16.2 innings above AA in his career. There is a lot of risk involved, but Barria has the advantage of no one having seen him.
Jarlin Garcia ($4,600): Garcia has looked very good in relief so far this year, so they are going to throw him out there as a starter. Garcia has pitched 10 innings over his two relief appearances, so he shouldn’t have a problem going five or six innings. The Mets are a decent offense, but most of their power comes from the left side. Add in the fact that Garcia is backed by a spacious home park, and there is pretty good potential here.
Top Tier:
Yeah, I’m stacking Cubs. The Cubbies have scored 12 runs on Steven Brault in just 40 at bats! Kris Bryant has the only homer against Brault. He is 5-7 with a walk, a homer, five runs scored, and two RBI against Brault.
Josh Donaldson is 8-29(.276) with three walks, two doubles, a homer, a steal, and five RBI in his career against Kevin Gausman. Russell Martin could be worth a look as well. Martin is only 5-21(.238), but he has four walks, two runs scored, a steal, and two RBI against Gausman.
Middle Tier:
Joey Gallo against a right hander making his first career start? Yeah, he could hit one into Dallas tonight.
Josh Bell is 3-7 with a homer and three RBI in his career against Jon Lester. Francisco Cervelli is 7-28 with two walks, a double, a homer, and seven RBI in his career against Lester.
David Price is off to a great start, but the Yankees have destroyed him in his career. Gary Sanchez is already 5-11 with two walks, four homers, five runs scored, and nine RBI in his career against Price. Tyler Austin is perfect against Price with two singles, a homer, and two RBI.
Hanley Ramirez is only 5-24(.208) against Tanaka, but he has two homers and three RBI against him.
Bargain Shoppers:
Todd Frazier has been solid so far as a Met, but hasn’t shown much power. Can that change against youngster Jarlin Garcia?
Chris Davis has three homers and seven RBI in his career against Marco Estrada, but he is just 5-30 lifetime.
Matt Moore has given up a lot of gopher balls to the Angels. Five in 37 at bats to be exact. Rene Rivera has two of those in just five at bats against Moore. Jefry Marte is 1-2 with a solo homer off of Moore in his career. Yes, Albert Pujols has a home run against Matt Moore, but he is just 2-12 lifetime.
Jorge Alfaro is a nice under the radar catcher pick against the struggling Luis Castillo.
Top Tier:
Even lefty Didi Gregorius is having success against David Price. Gregorius is 12-27(.444) with two doubles, a homer, three runs scored, and five RBI against Price.
Middle Tier:
Cesar Hernandez and Scott Kingery are both off to good starts. They may both be worth a look against Luis Castillo. Castillo has good strikeout potential, but he has struggled early on.
Josh Harrison is 7-25(.280) with two walks, a homer, four runs scored, and two RBI off of Jon Lester.
Bargain Shoppers:
Javier Baez hit two homers yesterday in Wrigley’s opener. He is 3-7 with two RBI against Steven Brault in his career. Don’t be shocked if Baez hits another.
Jordy Mercer is a solid value pick once again. Mercer is 7-21 with a walk, three doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and four RBI against Jon Lester.
Wilmer Flores destroys left handed pitching. Whenever a lefty is on the mound, Flores is worth a look. He may only get two or three at bats, but he can do a lot of damage in that time.

Top Tier:
Mike Trout is 3-11 with two walks and a solo homer against Matt Moore. Trout could be worth the price here. And with a lefty on the mound, you always have to consider Chris Young.
Rhys Hoskins is definitely in play against Luis Castillo. Odubel Herrera is picking it up lately and well, and could be a solid middle tier pick.
The entire Red Sox outfield is in play. Mookie Betts is only 7-30(.233), but he has two walks, two doubles, a homer, six runs scored, and three RBI off of Masahiro Tanaka. J.D. Martinez is 5-9 with two doubles, two homers, and three RBI against Tanaka. Yankee killer Andrew Benintendi is 4-16 with a walk, a double, and a solo homer against Tanaka.

Middle Tier:
Both Ian Happ and Jason Heyward have driven in three runs against Steven Brault. They are a combined 5-10 against Brault, and will only set you back a combined $7,500.
Adam Jones is 9-30 with three walks, two doubles, two homers, four runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Marco Estrada.
Bargain Shoppers:
Curtis Granderson is 2-4 in his career against Kevin Gausman. Both hits are solo homers!
Shin-Soo Choo and Nomar Mazara are nice cheaper options against a 21 year old righty making his major league debut.
