Humboldt Broncos player Brayden Camrud was honored during Game 3 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.
While we bring you fandom in all its forms during NHL playoffs here at FanSided, from rally towels to fans dressed as astronauts, we always strive to bring you stories of fans at their absolute best.
Tonight’s game in Pittsburgh offered a great example in the form of Humboldt Broncos player Brayden Camrud, who received a standing ovation from Pittsburgh Penguins fans during their Game 3 contest against the Washington Capitals.
Take a look below.
Way to go, Penguins fans. This is 100 percent a Fandom 250 moment.
Camrud is a survivor of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash that claimed the lives of 16 players, coaches and staff members near the beginning of April. Since then, the outpouring of support for the survivors and for the Broncos team as a whole has been overwhelming. Throughout these playoffs, every team has honored them in one way or another.
The Winnipeg Jets honored Matthieu Gomercic during their series against the Minnesota Wild. Minnesota created a giant Humboldt banner for fans to sign at Xcel Energy Center. And now the Pens have followed suit with their tribute to Camrud. When tragedy strikes, especially in the sports community, you can always count on players and teams coming together as one. We can only imagine what Camrud, his fellow survivors and their families are going through at this point.
But know that the NHL world is always going to stand behind you. We are all Humboldt hockey, not just tonight, but forever. We hope a fantastic Game 3 can ease some of the pain.
