Roberto Osuna finds himself in hot water legally and will miss time for the Blue Jays. What is the fantasy fallout?

The news struck this week that Roberto Osuna is facing legal consequences after being accused of assault. The Blue Jays are placing him on administrative leave, leaving the team with a gaping hole in their bullpen. What is the fantasy fallout of the news?

Roberto Osuna is undoubtedly one of the best closers in MLB and has skyrocketed through the league at a very young age. So far this season, he owns a 2.93 ERA/9 SV/13 K line over 15 games. He was stellar, and everything that owners could have wanted from him.

Yet, his legal situation is a huge blow to not only fantasy owners, but to his career in general. If the accusations are proven to be true, Osuna will surely be missing extended time. The Blue Jays and owners have to now turn to contingency plans.

Fortunately for the Jays, they made the astute move of bringing in former Cardinals closer, Seunghwan Oh this offseason. Oh has 40 career MLB saves, and even though he struggled in 2017, he has been lights out this season.

Over 15 innings as well this year, he holds a 1.76 ERA/1 SV/2 HLD/15 K/1.10 WHIP line. He throwing the ball the best out of the other potential replacements and has the MLB closer experience as well.

The Jays also have Ryan Tepera, Tyler Clippard, and John Axford looming as well, but fantasy owners are well aware that none of those options inspire confidence. For those owners looking for SV off the wire, Oh immediately becomes a must-add. For a Toronto club that is hovering around the .500 mark, the SV chances should be there.

Hopefully, the Osuna accusations are not true and he can avoid legal consequences. It is an unfortunate situation, but if he is guilty, whatever punishment handed down is just. It is a tough blow for the Jays and fantasy owners, making an already barren RP waiver wire all the thinner.
